When she came to my salon, the most important step began before any chemical or iron work — **hair diagnosis**.

Long hair should never be treated as one uniform section. The roots, mid-lengths, and ends have completely different histories and conditions.

For this client, I divided the hair into **three zones — roots, mid-lengths, and ends** — and customized the process for each area.

The older mid-lengths and ends had experienced years of chemical services, so they required a softer and more delicate approach. Instead of relying on excessive heat or tension, I focused on **moisture balance, controlled heat, and precise iron work**.

💧 **DRY + WET TWO-TOUCH TECHNIQUE**

For certain sections, I combine dry and wet techniques during the straightening process.

Think about the principle of a steam iron.

Controlled moisture helps soften the fibers before heat creates a smooth finish. Hair can respond in a similar way. When older lengths feel firm and resistant, the right amount of moisture can help prepare the hair for a smoother first straightening process.

Then, with carefully controlled heat, tension, and iron speed, I refine the shape and finish.

The goal is not simply straight hair.

The goal is **silky, smooth, flexible hair with natural movement and beautiful shine.** ✨

For long hair with previous chemical history:

**Roots → Mid-Lengths → Ends**

Diagnose each section separately.

Different sections may require different moisture levels, timing, tension, and iron techniques. A carefully controlled **dry + wet two-touch approach** can be especially useful when working with older lengths.
