愛知・銀行立てこもり事件/Hostage in Aichi Prefecture Bank
Update. He was 32. He was arrested. It was survival knife. Basically a jobless 無職 MUSHOKU, crazy guy.
At about 2:20pm a 50 year old man walked into a bank in Toyokawa and took 10 people hostage, barricading himself into the bank. 立てこもり tatekomori = barricade oneself in
He has since let 6 people go.
解放 kaihou = release
Watching the news, they also said the word for hostage. 人質 hitojichi = hostage
But I did not hear the word for ransom. 身代金 minoshirokin = ransom money
He did this just by having a 刃物 hamono = knife/blade.
Amazing! Only in Japan!
