When she feels it is time for a trim, she returns. Year after year, that quiet trust still touches my heart.
Today, I shape her short hair for a clean outline and a light, lively feel, with room to wear it down or tuck it behind her ears.
Among billions of people, we get to share this small moment: one client, one stylist, one familiar chair. As the years pass, we grow older together. I never want to take that for granted.
Every client brings a different story. That is why this work still makes me happy after 27 years. Filming lets us keep a little of today—a familiar smile, careful hands, and time we cannot live twice. Thank you for sharing these moments with us.
My Own Formula Language
For a haircut, my language is shape, elevation and balance. Here, I use higher elevation where I want lighter layers, vertical sections to connect the shape, and diagonal sections to soften transitions. Horizontal sections help me establish a clear guide and outline.
Pro Tip for Hairstylists
Section direction alone does not decide the result. Elevation, overdirection, finger angle and hair texture also matter. Choose each section with a purpose, then cross-check the balance.
