Walking meditation has been performed by monks for centuries. Although I perform seated meditation (zazen) and walking meditation, usually at speed, it is only very recently that I began to enjoy the benefits of this most beautiful and calming experience.

Ideally, you should stand in one spot for approximately 1 minute with your palms open by your side. Become aware of your connection with the earth through the soles of your feet and simply breathe. In your own time, walk slowly for maybe 15 to 30 steps and then stand again for another minute and repeat. However slowly you think you were walking, I guarantee that you can probably walk more slowly. Do let me know if you tried this and of your thoughts regarding the experience. It may well take you several times before you become completely comfortable but this is something that you can do in your own home or garden.
