A little cultural note about China's college entrance exam, known as the Gaokao.

The Gaokao takes place every year on June 7th and 8th. Why those two days? Because "678" in Chinese sounds exactly like "录取吧" (lù qǔ ba) — which means "You're admitted!" or "May you be accepted!" It's a lucky homophone that carries a beautiful wish within the dates themselves.

And this year, the night before the exam falls on June 6th, 2026. And what day is that? A Saturday. So that makes it the 6th day of the 6th month, on a Saturday — the most "6" day of the entire year.

In Chinese culture, the number 6 represents good luck, smoothness, and things going well. It's considered an extremely auspicious number.

So on this day of all the sixes, I just want to say to everyone out there: Good luck. May all your desires become the heralds of your destiny.
