This longtime client visited for a red brown root touch-up and a gentle refresh around her face. After so many visits, a familiar appointment still deserves fresh attention—the way her hair falls, the balance of her color, and the little details that make the finished style feel like her.

Red brown brings a beautiful warmth to the hair. For someone who enjoys a natural look with little or no makeup, the right reddish-brown shade can softly frame the complexion and create a brighter, more lively impression.

For her gray coverage, I began at the front, where her gray hair was more concentrated. Starting there gives those areas the processing time they need within the color system’s directions.

An even-looking result does not always come from using the same formula everywhere. Areas with more gray and areas with more naturally pigmented hair can develop differently. I tailored the formula and brightness between the front and back, accounting for the darker natural base at the back to bring the overall color into balance.

To finish, I refined the front into a soft C-shaped curve, allowing the hair to follow the neckline and gently frame her face.

There is something meaningful about caring for the same person’s hair over the years. Familiarity never makes the work less special. It gives me more reasons to pay attention.
