J R R Tolkien wrote an essay entitled “On Fairy Stories,” dedicated to analyzing and defining the genre. We explore this essay today, examining who fairies are, why stories about them came to be, and how they serve us now. We’ll also take a brief look at the birth of King Arthur - the Faerie King.
