The Birth of the CIA | ASMR Soft Spoken
In today’s video, we explore origin story of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), from the disbandment of the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) following WWII to the creation of America’s first permanent foreign intelligence service.
We’ll look at the post-war debates over intelligence gathering vs. covert action, the influence of figures like General William Donovan, George Kennan, and James Forrestal, and how early covert operations during the Cold War were secretly funded through the Marshall Plan.
