ASMR Is True Crime Content Unethical?

I was inspired to do this video after watching Casey Aonso's video on true crime obsession where she discussed many points about why true crime content might not be that ethical, especially people who have obsessions over serial killers etc. on platforms like Tumblr. I also saw Grayson's Project's podcast episode where she talked about if true crime is okay or not, and why some people dislike it etc and I wanted to do my own video because I had some things to say as a creator who produces ASMR true crime videos.

#asmr #truecrime

main points to take away from this video is; everyone is entitled to their opinion on whether true crime content is for them or not, if its ethical or not.
main distinction between true crime content that is ethical vs. true crime content that is unethical is that, the latter is made in a sensationalised way using shocking thumbnails, the crimes and people in question are being talked about in a shocking manner, where the "story" is being dramatised for views and money.
at the end of the day true crime is made for entertainment (whether its asmr or not) and should be viewed as a separate entity to crime on the news, as true crime creators on YouTube or on podcasts etc. are not professionals doing research through interviews/statistical data/primary research. most research YouTubers do consists of google searches and reading already existing articles. the main point of good true crime content should be to raise awareness to a story, or to talk about a crime/incident that happened that the creator found interesting and wanted to share to their audience, by not skewing the story for views, and not making it solely focused on shock factor and always have respect for the victims.

regarding true crime asmr content specifically: like I say in the end of the video, I don't see true crime asmr as weird because asmr is normal to me. as a person who watches asmr every day, just to keep up with my favourite creators/their lives/their storytimes etc. asmr is not just made for you to sleep to it. sometimes I don't want to watch a person talking loudly and I can watch the same true crime video in asmr, where people just do the same true crime video but whispering instead of talking. I don't see it as a video made specifically for sleep. I see it as a video that is the same as a normal true crime video, but whispered.

thats my 2 cents on the subject I know this is such a long rant but I hope you find something in this video that you can agree with or add to in the comment section to create a discussion.
