All jokes aside, I know a lot of women of color with curly and coily hair have dealt with these privileged valley girls before. As society progresses, I hope that one day our hair won’t be such a huge topic of discussion, and that we can go to any hair salon and know for certain the stylist knows our hair. Often times we make jokes and laugh as a coping mechanism to the racism we face in our everyday lives. This is all I am trying to do, relate to girls like me, and make those who are privileged aware.
