ASMR | Unboxing GPU’s and Mac Minis

4 unboxing’s, 1 video. This was a battle my friends. I unbox 2 GPU’s, 1 Sonnet 650 Breakaway Box, and 1 Mac Mini. Here’s what I learned:
The Sonnet 650 will fit a maximum length graphics card of 11.8” which is the length of the Red Devil Radeon RX 5700 XT graphics card.
Sonnet’s website claims that graphics cards up to 331mm or 12.2” will fit… I dunno man. I shoehorned this card in at 11.8”. I mean, it BARELY fit. Could another .4 inches get in the side??? Maybe. I doubt it.

The XFX Thicc Ultra iii AMD 5700XT that I unboxed is probably an amazing graphics card. However, at 12.4 inches, it’s about .5 inches too long to fit into the Sonnet 650 Breakaway Box. Trust me. I tried. And tried. And tried. I was fooled by the actual Sonnet box being 13.38” long. I thought I’d have an inch to spare. Oh no. Ohhh no no no no no no no no no.

The Red Devil Radeon RX 5700XT is working great so far and like I said, barely squeezes in the Sonnet 650 at 11.8 inches long.

For Mac users; you have to be running OS Catalina to use the AMD 5700 series. The latest update 10.15.7 has a special fix for users running a 5700XT graphics card. As such, it’s plug and play and everything worked straight away. No drivers, no additional tinkering, simply plug your monitor into the graphics card, start up your Mac mini and boom, you’re off to the races.
