Autonomous sensory meridian response, ASMR - a term that emerged in Internet culture for a perceptual phenomenon characterized by a distinct, pleasant tingling sensation in the scalp or other parts of the body in response to certain visual, auditory and cognitive stimuli.
Many video and audio recordings aimed at evoking ASMR contain elements of role-playing games. Examples include simulating a haircut, visiting a doctor, or cleaning your ears. Viewers and listeners of the recordings in which the authors act out such scenes note the ASMR effect, which relieves insomnia, anxiety and panic attacks.
