ASMR: The Jackalope, The Horned Rabbit | American Folklore | Ear-to-ear Whispering
The jackalope, just as it sounds, is a jackrabbit and antelope hybrid. It has the body of a jackrabbit and the horns of an antelope. It appears to have started from a unique taxidermy practice where taxidermists would flex their creative muscle and blend the two creatures together.
However, there are deeper mentions of rabbits with horns in folklore. It's even possible, as we found in this video, that this may truly have originated from a rare virus which affects various forms of rabbits called Shope papillomavirus, where they do indeed grow horns. How fascinating.
