The set is the first to feature Generation VIII, Pokémon V and Pokémon VMAX in the card game.
In Japan, it was released as the Sword · Shield dual sets that make up the first expansion block in the Pokémon Card Game Sword & Shield Era. It is based on Pokémon Sword and Shield, featuring Generation VIII Pokémon and the two game Legendary Pokémon Zacian and Zamazenta. The English expansion was released on February 7, 2020, while the Japanese expansion was released on December 6, 2019.
