Relationship Workshop #2 What Do You Need?

This is the 2nd video in my Relationship Workshop: The Keys To A Healthy Relationship. In this video I will explain how to get your needs met in a relationship, because if you can get your needs met, satisfaction and harmony will reign.

I often hear people in my clinic say ‘but if they really loved me, they would just know what I need’.

Unfortunately, this is not the case, because we all use ourselves as a point of reference which means that we must learn to think about other people. For more on this watch the first video in this series:

Even if your partner has learned to think about other people and is really quite good at it, their default position will continue to be to think about themselves first, that is just how human beings are programmed. So, the most reliable way to get what you need in a relationship is to ask for it. This can be easier said that done and I will outlined in this video why that is.

If you have any questions then please post your comments below and I will do my best to help.

** MORE ABOUT ME **
I am the Lead Clinical Psychologist at The British CBT & Counselling Service and find that I am often the first person with whom my patients share significant and intimate thoughts and memories. I feel at ease being a therapist, I feel I can empathise with people’s distress and discomfort but don’t feel overwhelmed by it, I can understand their problem and know how to help, it has always just felt like what I should be doing.
