Rocky Horror ASMR | Dr. Frank N. Furter Roleplay

Same as most people born in the 80s, I grew up with Tim Curry as the quintessential Brit in US cinema – with enduring memories of his enchanting portrayal of Darkness in ‘Legend’, entertaining rendition of Long John Silver in ‘Muppet Treasure Island’, and absolutely f***ing haunting Pennywise in the original 90s badboy version of ‘It’, along with video games too, most notably for me C&C.

It was only later, after the demons, muppets, and clowns, as I’d started to understand myself a bit more, that I first watched The Rocky Horror [Picture] Show. And it took me even longer than that to understand just how important it really was, not just for theatre and cinema, but for the queer community as a whole.

To honour Tim Curry’s generosity of self, kindness, and talent, as well as the spirit of one of his most iconic performances, this video has an indefinite fundraiser for The Trevor Project attached, whose work is more important now than it's ever been before. Otherwise, a Rocky Horror ASMR has been requested a good few times over the years, but I was always worried that I wouldn’t do it justice – Tim Curry’s voice alone, let alone his talent, was was inimitable! I still don’t think that I have... and my energy was a bit all over the shop, but more than anything I wanted to express my fondness for Tim and sadness over his passing with some kind of homage. So, I hope it comes across as tasteful and respectful, and I certainly hope you all enjoy it. TBH, it’s probably one of the more ‘normal’ ASMR videos I’ve done in a very long time!

PS – There are some references and verbiage from the show that felt a little out-dated in terms of gender as I was saying them; I think you can visibly see me pause at points! But please know that everything said in the roleplay is meant with kindness and love, and never with the intent to alienate or hurt.

PPS – The pearl necklace was a botched job I quickly put together on the day as I forgot to acquire one (I know, I know), so that’s why there’s black tape on it!

🎙 What is ASMR? 🎧

ASMR (autonomous sensory meridian response) is synaesthesia of the soul. It’s a relaxing feeling, it’s a tingling down the spine, or it’s simply a sleep aid. FPC (first person cinema) takes all the relaxing elements of ASMR but has much more of a focus on immersion and the suspension of disbelief. It’s kinda like being the main character in your own short movie, with popular figures you know and love, or entirely created worlds – just for you. There won’t be any visible mics or traditional triggers in these videos, and they will seem more unintentional than the usual ASMR videos – but they are unique and relaxing experiences designed to transport you to different places, worlds, and times.
