World's First ASMR Video. New Year's Day 1985.

Happy 1985! Welcome to the worlds first (ASMR) Analogue Sensory Mind Relaxation video. During Hogmanay (New Year) and extended Christmas celebrations at Caledonia University in Scotland, renowned Neurologist Dr McPherson struck upon an idea to deliver a new way of lowering stress and relaxing the human mind by avoiding the standard doctrine of using medicine and technology, in favour of a more analogue approach.

Dr McPherson has recorded the worlds first ASMR video using a prototype Video Home System (VHS) Cassette Camera and stereophonic microphone. The intention is to deliver these experimental ASMR triggers to you, the viewer through your own television set at home.

❓ What is ASMR anyway?

ASMR stands for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response (not Analogue Sensory Mind Relaxation) and it basically refers to a calming, often tingling physical sensation.

This sensation is 'triggered' by various things such as whispering closely into a micrphone, to make it seem as though the listener (through headphones) is having someone talk very closely and intimately with them. This is probably the most popular and common ASMR trigger.

Other common triggers include, Scratching and tapping on various objects, page turning while reading, simulating personal attention to the viewer and concentration on a task, often a fairly simple task such as drawing a picture or unboxing a new product.
