If this is your first time watching a video like this and you're wondering what the heck this is all about...this is an ASMR video. If you want to learn more please read below as I try to explain this really bizarre "relaxation" phenomena :)
What is ASMR?
ASMR stands for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response and it refers to a phenomenon which is very difficult to explain to those who do not experience it. It is a relaxing tingling in the scalp and the back of the neck and can extend into the rest of the body triggered by certain sounds, or visuals. People who create videos that help induce this relaxing tingling sensation are called ASMRtists. They create videos in the form of roleplays, personal attention videos, or simply just talking to the viewer, ear to ear in a whispered or soft spoken word, about random things to help trigger this tingly sensation for their relaxation. ASMR videos are used by many people to help them fall asleep, to help ride out an anxiety attack, or to just simply just help one relax. ASMR has only been coined since 2010 and is now being researched to help validate its wonderful benefits. ASMR is an interesting wonder and if you want to learn more about it, check out the links below. If you're new to ASMR...be sure to wear your earphones as it provides the best audio experience for this type of relaxation :-)
