The American Psycho Interviews - Part 1

NOTE: the character Patrick Bateman does not belong to me. This is a mere role-play, fan-fiction play on the idea of interviewing the famous American psycho and finding out about his current whereabouts, business details and ongoing penchant for killing.

The views expressed in the video stay true to the character of the novel. I personally do not like or endorse this type of thinking, nor do I agree or promote the type of behavior showcased by the character of Patrick Bateman. As a matter of fact, quite the opposite. I find this kind of people and ways of thinking about other human beings, as horrific and condemnable. However, I realize such people exist, sometimes at the top of society and the recent scandals are a proof to this fact. When wealth, status and connections are so powerful, it is easy for some to feel unaccountable, beyond the law, unshakable. I think it is the duty of artists of any kind to point a finger at these elements in society and of society in general to admit the existence of such individuals, for the better progress and the mental health of the society overall. Please take this as a creepy Halloween story, not as an endorsement of psychopathic and homicidal behavior.

Patrick Bateman is the main character in the novel American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis. Bateman is a washed out, no personality Wall Street lawyer who spends most of his time having meetings and brooding over or acting upon his thoughts of committing murder. His vivid imagination mingles with reality to such an extent he cannot be certain about what he had and had not done. Regarding this, the author of the novel stresses that at least some of the crimes committed by his character are real, although some might just be imaginary.
A horror-comedy film adaptation starring Christian Bale was released in 2000.
