In this video I am going to explain what Physical Abuse is so that you can work out if you are or someone you know is, a victim.
The most important thing to say about Physical Abuse is that it is always a crime, no matter who the victim is, no matter who the perpetrator is, no matter where the abuse occurs.
Physical Abuse involves physical force that causes or could cause harm, by a perpetrator against a victim. It often starts gradually and then escalates both in frequency and severity.
Types of Physical Abuse include: scratching, biting, pushing, shoving, slapping, kicking, choking, throwing, being forced fed, being denied food, being physical restrain, the use of a weapon or other object to cause harm, reckless driving, any act that causes or could cause harm.

** MORE ABOUT ME **
I am the Lead Clinical Psychologist at The British CBT & Counselling Service and find that I am often the first person with whom my patients share significant and intimate thoughts and memories. I feel at ease being a therapist, I feel I can empathise with people’s distress and discomfort but don’t feel overwhelmed by it, I can understand their problem and know how to help, it has always just felt like what I should be doing.
