What are two of the most important aspects of a shiatsu session? well its connecting and disconnecting.
Welcome to my new series on how to do shiatsu in this series im going to take you through the basics of shiatsu.... so lets start with the basics if we can get this right everything else will follow.
So to begin with lets begin with practising how to connect and disconnect.
When starting a shiatsu session you first want to connect to do this.
1. sit comfortably at the side of your client
2. Become aware of your own breath, breathing deeply into you belly or hara.
3. become aware of your own body, encourage your body to relax.
4. become aware of the room you are in
5. become aware of your client
6. slowly begin moving your hand with your breath towards your client... feel the energy as you hand moves through the layers
7. connect with your client, feel them breathing feel there energy...
8. Shiatsu
After the session we want to repeat this process but we want to disconnect so we don't leave our energy connected to our client...
1. remain stationary
2. slowly begin moving your hands away from the client
3. at the point you feel the air and your outside there energy, bring your hands round to a prayer position, bow and say thank you
Well done you can now connect and disconnect in a shiatsu session

Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response (ASMR), sometimes Auto Sensory Meridian Response,[2][3][4] is an experience characterized by a static-like or tingling sensation on the skin that typically begins on the scalp and moves down the back of the neck and upper spine. It has been compared with auditory-tactile synesthesia[5][6] and may overlap with frisson.
