ASMR: Homemade Vegemite Ice Cream With Vegemite Fudge Sauce 😮 Soft Eating Sounds (Whispered)

Yes, there really is Vegemite in this dessert! It's not gross, I swear!

The trick is to include a small amount - the way you would include salt in a salted dessert (e.g. salted caramel or salted chocolate). Just a touch so the saltiness shines through. But you have to be a little careful as not only is Vegemite salty it has a strong umami taste (comparable to beef bouillon) and you want to avoid this flavour dominating the dish. Salty chocolate = good. Beefy chocolate = not so good.

On to the recipe! I made both an ice cream and a fudge sauce. The fudge sauce was actually meant to be solid fudge (this recipe: https://www.peacefuldumpling.com/recipe/vegemite-fudge), but it didn't set. No big deal as I was planning to top the ice cream with a different chocolate fudge sauce anyway. This one worked out better, I think! I used my go-to holy grail ice cream base recipe (https://www.biggerbolderbaking.com/homemade-ice-cream/ - no ice cream maker necessary) and veganized it by using coconut cream and coconut condensed milk. To the ice cream, I added cocoa powder and a coconut milk-based caramel that I 'infused' with Vegemite. As usual I didn't take any measurements, I just played around with it until it tasted good. And I'm happy to report it was really really good!

Oh! And something in the coconut condensed milk made the ice cream very sticky and gooey if you're wondering why the texture is the way it is. I love the sounds it made! ❤
