ASMR: Would you wire into the Experience Machine? | Ear-to-ear Whispering Philosophy

If there were a machine that could simulate any experience that you desire, would you choose to live inside it, even if you knew it wasn't real?

This is a philosophical thought experiment proposed by Robert Nozick in 1974, which stimulates multiple different avenues of thought. For example, if your own personal happiness is the most important thing in life, why shouldn't you wire in? If you feel uncomfortable with the idea, why is that?

I hope you find this relaxing, interesting, and intellectually satisfying.
With love,
Harry

What is ASMR?

Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response (ASMR) is a pleasant physical sensation that can be triggered by various stimuli. ASMR videos, therefore, focus on creating an environment conducive to helping you experience ASMR.
ASMR is a unique and scientifically established feeling that some people experience. It is often described as a tingling sensation on the skin of the scalp and back of the neck, and is usually accompanied by an increased sense of relaxation, sleepiness, or focus. ASMR videos are used in many ways, commonly as study aids, sleep aids, and comfort for anxiety.
