Traditional Vietnamese Cupping & Chích Lể | My First Experience
Today, I visited a local practitioner in Vietnam to experience two traditional Vietnamese wellness practices: cupping therapy and chích lể, a traditional technique involving superficial skin pricking. 🇻🇳
These practices have a long history in Vietnamese folk wellness traditions. Traditionally, some people seek them when they feel tired, experience muscle aches, or believe they have been affected by “gió” (a traditional Vietnamese concept often associated with feeling unwell). This video documents my personal cultural experience, rather than making medical claims about their effectiveness.
To be honest, I felt a little nervous before the session because it was my first time experiencing this combination of treatments. However, the practitioner explained the process and performed the treatment while I recorded the experience. Afterward, I personally felt more comfortable, relaxed, and less tired.
⚠️ Important Safety Notice: Chích lể involves breaking the skin and may cause bleeding, infection, or other complications if performed improperly. These procedures should only be carried out by appropriately trained and qualified practitioners using proper sterile equipment and hygiene practices. Please do not attempt to perform cupping or skin-pricking procedures on yourself or others. Consult a qualified healthcare professional if you have health concerns.
This video is shared for cultural documentation, education, and ASMR entertainment. It is not medical advice and does not recommend these traditional practices as a substitute for professional medical care.
