In this video, I talk about how to tell shrines and temples apart, the different ways people pray at each one, and why Shinto and Buddhism have become so deeply intertwined throughout Japanese history.

I’ll also explain torii gates, temple gates, offering boxes, and some simple manners you may find useful when visiting these sacred places.
