Mature Hair Perm Transformation After Her Daughter’s Wedding | Full Process
For her daughter’s wedding, this mother patiently grew her hair long enough to create a beautiful updo.
The day after the wedding, she came to my salon ready for a new beginning.
The celebration was over, the updo had served its beautiful purpose, and she could finally say, “Now I can cut it.”
In this full 19-minute transformation, I remove the long, heavy length and create a shorter perm designed to feel lighter, softer, and easier to manage.
This was not simply about cutting the hair and adding curls.
After removing the length, I carefully reassessed her hair density, texture, root volume, face shape, curl placement, and how comfortably she could maintain the style at home.
For mature hair, more curls do not always create a more beautiful result. Balance is more important. The curl size, winding direction, rod placement, and overall silhouette must work together to create natural volume without making the hair appear heavy or overly curled.
Professional Tip
When long hair is cut significantly shorter before a perm, the previous weight and movement disappear. The entire design must be reconsidered before winding begins. Rod selection should be based on the new length and desired finished shape—not the length the client had when she entered the salon.
