Does any of you remember this beast? It has 64 kB of memory and is equipped with 8-bit CPU.

In order to play a game you had to load it from a cassette. Quite often it was necessary to adjust the head of the datasette unit every time you decided to switch the cassette, so If you didn't have a small enough screwdriver up your sleeve, you could only dream about the fun from playing Maniac Mansion.

I have a vague but surely very nostalgic recollection of those days in the 90's when me and my sister used to sit in front of a tv screen waiting with anticipation for another game to load from a brand new cassette. We were so stoked every time when one of our older cousins let us borrow a new collection of games, that everything else seemed to stop existing for us. Right after coming back home, we were looking at the magic dance of pink and black bands which are the graphical representation of data flowing bit by bit through the maze of logic gates. We always kept our fingers crossed hoping that it'll help to prevent us from getting another loading error.

One day for no apparent reason we couldn't load any of the games. We thought the computer is broken, so we had to find a solution.

There was only one computer geek living nearby. His name is Robert. He was famous for throwing his brand new PC out of the window in a fit of rage. I liked him very much even though I had never even talked to him.

It was a beautiful sunny day, so I decided to go for a bike ride. I think it wasn't a coincidence that I passed next to Robert's house more than 100 times. Finally I spotted his mother. She was watering flowers in the garden when I hit the brakes sending a small wave of gravel to the side of the hedge.

''Hello Mrs Pozon! How are you?'' I asked

''I'm fine thanks... You know that now I'll have to rake the gravel from the lawn.'' She answered frowning on me

''I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to...'' I uttered shakily

''Why did you stop here? And please do not tell me that you only wanted to say hello. He?''

''Yes.. No, actually I .... Is Robert home?''

''Yes, but he hasn't woken up yet.'' She said without looking at me

''Would you be kind enough to tell him that I really need his help? My computer doesn't work.'' I asked clenching the bike's handles

'''Hey kid, what's up?'' - Robert suddenly showed up on the balcony. He yawned, stretched himself and put on his glasses.

''Hello Robert! It's nice to meet you! Can you help me with my Commodore 64?'' I called up to him

''No problem. Give me a sec. I'll be right down.'' He said enthusiastically

''For God's sake! At least eat something Robert!'' His mother furiously yelled at him. Dog who has been playing in the backyard flinched and then put his tail between his legs.

''Don't worry mum. Commodore 64 are very nutritious.'' He replied to her while walking towards me.

After a while me and Robert were on our way to my house. It turned out that instead of F3 I was wrongly pressing F4 to play a loaded game. He showed me some useful commands and advised to write all of them down in a notebook, so that I could look them up any time I need them.

''Hey Rob, Is that true you threw your PC out of the window?'' I asked hesistantly

''Yes and No, It depends on what exactly do you mean by PC.''

''Yyyyyy....'' I looked at him with confusion

'' Yes, it is true. It was my PC. Apart from being called PC, this black furry cat is also a master of annoying busy people. Do not worry he is fine. Actually after a few weeks I realised that he is messing with me intentionally just to be thrown out of the window again and have some fun.''

''That's cool.'' I said

''Ok. I gotta go. Have fun!'' He grabbed his backpack and went out.

Robert also brought some of the most awesome games I've ever played. I was fascinated so much that my dad had to switch off electricity in order to pull me away from the computer.

The power supply unit was so hot after one of my gaming marathons, that it melted a little bit of plastic on one of the datasette buttons when my father was putting it back to the box.
