Yoga - glute isolation exercise. I challenge you to try it. Harder than it looks.

This is a very valid and useful exercise so no sniggering at the back. Glutes can become lazy and are often the cause of lower back pain (in my experience and with my knowledge) and therefore, this is a useful indicator as to how well you think your glutes might be working, or not...perhaps you just accept that they are there but bear in mind that they are a vital part of your core in terms of stability.

A few years ago, I underwent spinal surgery and during my 18 months of rehabilitation and recovery, this was one of the exercises I did to slowly wake up my glutes and at the time, it was near on impossible, because of the trauma caused to the surrounding muscles and fibrous tissue. It is easy to overlook the very simple exercises but I challenge you to focus on activating one side and then the other, without calling on other muscle groups to do so and without contracting the muscles simultaneously. Aside from anything else, when it is freezing cold and one is training outdoors, it's important to find things that make you giggle. I could get really heavy on the technical wotnottery but most people don't read this and I have no desire to bore you with minutiae.

However, do exercise caution with sitting in this position if you have problems with your knees. You can do this lying down if you so desire. If you want further information or a longer video, let me know.

I'll leave you with this whilst I begin to upload your main video.
