I talk a lot about Markiplier's Iron Lung here.. filmed this as soon as I got home from seeing it. I couldn't wait to talk to you about it. I also go on to ramble about Trigun and Project Hail Mary as well as Back to the Future just cause I can. If you're interested in listening to a nerd talk about nerd things but in a whispered relaxed voice then you've found the right ASMR video.
hopefully I can distract your mind and give you a bit of comfort to help you to relax and possibly fall asleep.
below will possibly have spoilers for Iron Lung I don't spoil the movie in the video so you're safe watching it but read below only if you've seen the film or don't care for spoilers.
bruh it was so good I cant stop thinking about it. I wanna watch it again but its already out of cinemas here in Australia. it's not a master piece by any means but for a self financed, self distributed film its absolutely impressive. I was a bit skeptical at the start of the film. knowing the game and how it operates i couldn't see how the game could be stretched in to a 2 hour time fame. I do believe the film would have benefited from a shorter run time (maybe an hour 40 and hour 50 range) I see why Mark went with a longer run time. there are loads of cinematic shots. Shots strategically framed and paced to draw out the tension. all are beautifully executed and really make you feel that dread. i just felt there was so much time building the dread when i already was there.
Ive never seen Mark act in anything serious before. i watched/played a heist with Markiplier and in space with Markiplier and thought both were really fun and enjoyable. The acting there though is more heightened and exaggerated. fitting for the medium its in. Here though Mark is in full dramatic swing and he does a very good job at it. there were times in the film i fully forgot i was watching Markiplier and only saw Simon the convict. there were however a few scenes where i saw Mark doing mark things. id need to ask someone who doesnt know who he is and see if they felt his acting was off in parts of the film to make sure i was actually seeing it and its not by many years of bias seeing him as a let's player.
the plot of the film was almost perfect as an adaptation too.you can really tell it was a passion project for mark. there were some very specific lines of dialogue that felt out of place for the setting and given marks acting and emotion on lines idk if it was that or the dialoge itself or his abilities but occasionally something felt off. for the other 95% of the film i was sucked in and engaged with everything happening on screen. trying to obsorb every bit of plot i could grasp.
I really wanna get into spoilers but part of me won't do it. I need to know what you think and I'll talk about it with you in the comments. but man the ending..
okay, I've typed to much. I need to do the other things I need to do with this before uploading.
