My Own Formula Language
Formulation is like seasoning: hair I expect to need a "7" may respond to a "2." These numbers illustrate intensity, not pH. Coarse texture does not always mean strong chemical resistance. Study, strand tests, and records help refine my assessment.
I assessed the roots, mid-lengths, and ends separately, tailoring mixing ratios and timing with gentler care for treated lengths. Where supported by the product system, I adjusted pH while considering reducing strength, elasticity, and treatment history.
Pro Tip for Hairstylists
Record products, ratios, application order, processing times, strand-test responses, and follow-up results. Ratios alone do not reveal pH. Use manufacturer-supported combinations. Lower pH is not automatically better; strand tests cannot guarantee results.
Softening lays the foundation. Iron temperature, contact time, tension, speed, repetitions, and correct neutralization must work together.
