I have wanted to make this video for a very long time. The original movie of the Dark Crystal has been one of my all time favorite movies since I was uh... maybe 14? Before that it was Lost Boys and I think I got over that one at the end of 7th grade so yeah... 14 is probably right. Sorry. Tangent. ANYWAY! That movie has always stayed with me, particularly Lord Chamberlain's 'mmmmmhmmmm'. The new Netflix Show, 'Age of Resistance' sort of relit up that inspiration to actually create a skeksis puppet so... here we are.

I made the puppet mostly out of resin, latex and plaster. Cut out and sewed together the shape of his head out of plastic canvas and then coated that with plaster casting - the kind you'd get a cast made out of if you broke an arm. Painted it with latex and layered the CRAP out of the latex haha... coated it in resin and built the brow ridge and eyes up with resin as well. Totally did NOT accidentally glue to this to my table... ahem... ;) If you want to see some progress pics that I remembered to take while I was making him, you can find them on my Instagram.
