In this video I am going to show you 8 techniques to help you to cope with a relationship breakup.

A relationship breakup can be devastating especially if you didn’t expect it. You can feel overwhelmed by feelings of rejection, anxiety, anger, loneliness and hopelessness about the future.
These 8 techniques will help you to cope:
1. How you are feeling is normal, no a sign that something is wrong. When a relationship breaks up we go through a series of well recognised stages that are designed by nature to help us to adapt to the loss and find a way to live comfortably with the new reality. For more about these stage take a look at this video:

2. Don’t catastrophise. It is common when a relationship ends to predict the worst e.g. ‘I will be alone forever’. Try to assess how accurate your predictions about the future are and if they are not, replace them with more accurate ones.
3. Focus on Existing Relationships. This is a good time to pause and think about the value of your other relationships and focus on time with these people.
4. Routines and Tasks. Fill your life with routines and tasks that give you a sense of achievement and that you enjoy. This will give you stability, structure and a sense of purpose.
5. Take Care of Yourself to counteract feelings of rejection and criticism. Reconnect with would you like to do and do it.
6. Negative Comparisons. When we feel low we tend to compare ourselves negativity to others. These comparisons are rarely accurate, everyone is struggling with something.
7. Be Alone. Resist the urge to rush into another relationship, we rarely make good choices if we start a relationship because we don’t want to be alone.
8. Make it Count. Good can be found in every experience if we look for it. Take this time to review what you want.
